Recap of our Getaway

We had such a fun time for our little getaway. It was VERY relaxing.

Here are some pics I took:

It was only one night, which was nice so we weren't gone too long from our little guy.

Can't wait to do something like this again in the future.

Getaway!

So, my wedding anniversary was last Thursday. Unfortunately, I was sick, so we had to reschedule our getaway we had planned :(

So, tomorrow, we are "getting away" (albeit only 3 hours from home, away is away).

It will be my first night away from our son :(
I know he will be in good hands, but I sure will miss that booger.

I will NOT miss having to wake up early!

So stay tuned...Monday I will blog about our getaway! Hurray! :D

A look back at Feb 2012

I want to take a moment to look back at the month of February, and recap some highlights:

I bought some piano music and learned a song I want to sing. I learned the piano part fairly easy, and now I'm getting the words down. :)

Our church had its D-Now weekend for the youth, which was ALOT of fun! It's a lot harder running around doing things with them since Jo is so active now.

After D-Now, Jo became sick (turns out he had hand, foot, mouth disease). He was fever free that Tuesday, and the next evening I began to run a fever, and was sick til Friday. It's so hard when your child is sick, but even harder when you get sick and have no one to give you a break, except in the evenings. All I can say is, thank you Baby Einstein for helping watch my kid those days.

That about sums up February. Hopefully I can get in a better routine of posting on here.

You know you're a parent when...

You told someone you might get to sleep in, and by sleep in you meant until 7 am...LOL!

That totally happened to me last night. Oh man!

Here's the man that wakes me up at 6 am most days.

Working the Shop

So, my husband and I started a coffee shop a little over a year ago. It's been fun/stressful being a business owner. The shop has grown though, business wise, which is good.

My husband is also a youth pastor at a church nearby, and the youth meet Wednesday nights. So, my husband asked if I would be willing to work the shop so he could prepare for Wednesday nights as he watches our son. Not sure how that will work out...

I worked a few times at the other shop while pregnant, and learned the basics, but was pretty confident with my knowledge.

I went into the shop with him Thursday morning, and my husband watched me make a drink, then told me everything I could do to make it better...which was ALOT. But, I caught on quickly.

The morning rush came and went, and so my husband left, since he had a meeting to go to. His parting words, "You've got this". Me: "Yeah" :)

My first customer walks up. I think, "I can do this! I think I can..."

Me: "What can I get for you today?"
Customer: "I'll have a Slap in the Face."
Me; (puzzling look)
luckily I knew this was a drink, or I may have been tempted to reach across that counter and give the customer EXACTLY what they ordered
Me: "This is my first day by myself. What's that?"
Customer: "It's 3 Sugar in the Raw, half and half and 2 shots of espresso"
Me: "Okay, got it."
So, I made the drink. Gave it to the customer.
Me: "Here's your Slap in the Face. I hope it's not too bad."

Overall, I think I did okay. My husband said no one complained about my drinks, but seemed nervous.

My husband described to me that learning the coffee shop was like drinking out of a fire hydrant. I guess I know what he means now.

I think I will give it a whirl, working at the shop. Wednesday's only though( and after the rush), since I have another job 3 days/week and LOVE having Friday's off. If it doesn't work out, I'll just hang out with the kiddo some more. He's fun!

2011 in review

2011 is gone. So, I must take a moment to do a review of our 2011 (note: this is from my memory. For 2012 I'm going to keep a journal of the hi lights)

We had some snow in Texas, Jan. or Feb. 2011

For our 2 year anniversary, we went to the Oasis. Positive: We had a coupon to use AND I got a box full of things I LOVE( like Heath bars and root beer). Negative: We couldn't go til after sunset.

Our baby boy was sick on his 1st birthday with a double ear infection, which is July 4th, and due to a burn ban, there were NO fireworks! He still had cake and ice cream that day, but he cried when we tried to feed him Blue Bell.

Went swimming some with J-man this summer. He learned to walk this year, and knows quite a few animal noises (dog, cat, chicken, duck, pig, lion, elephant, sheep, cow, turkey, bird, giraffe, monkey, bear, rooster).

Started babysitting a girl 5 months younger than J in April.

Thanksgiving and Christmas were fun! J had a BLAST opening presents!

There you go! Thanks 2011, it was fun. Here we go 2012.

It's the Most Wonderful Time...

Of the year! Yes, friends. family and fellow blog-followers!

Christmas!

Only 2 weeks away. Time to celebrate Jesus' birthday!

I just finished watching Michael Buble's Christmas special on NBC, and if that doesn't put you in the Christmas mood, then YOU"RE A GRINCH!

That's right...a GRINCH! LOL! j/k

While watching Mr. Buble's Christmas special, I decided to partake of some Promised Land egg nog. Let me tell you...it's HEAVENLY!

Speaking of heaven, I'm so glad Jesus chose to leave heaven to be born in a manger as a human and live the life we can't live (perfect) and give it up for us! Oh what great love He has for us! To restore our broken relationship with our Heavenly Father, His Father. YAY!

GO JESUS!
